The Arrival Of Punk Rock

Author: Patrick Omari

Punk is described in the dictionary as a 'loud, fast-moving, and aggressive form of rock music, popular in the late 1970s and early 1980s'. So, with bands in the 90s and 00s still being labelled as punk, did it really end in the early 80s and if so, why did punk-rock disappear?

The style of music, attitude and fashion that would evolve into 'punk-rock' began with the garage rock bands of the late 1960s. Velvet Underground and the Stooges would pave the way for the mohawked, safety-pinned punks of the 1970s, with their raw sound and apparent embrace of the anti-image.

Punk rock, as we know it now, first surfaced in the mid 1970s when the USA, UK and Australia saw the arrival of fast, edgy, simple songs that shocked the music industry to its core. Punk evolved from garage rock and stripped music of its complexities to create a short, sharp sound that contrasted dramatically with the glam-rock and disco of the era.

The sounds coming from USA seemed to find their spiritual home in New York City at the CBGB club in Manhattan. CBGBs began life as a bar, before reopening as a rock club in late 1973. Early Television gigs would set the tone of the club, as the punk sound would gradually gain momentum in the New York music scene. The Ramones, godfathers of three-chord punk, would play their first gig at the venue on August 16, 1974.

Across the Atlantic Ocean, the British were in the middle of the recession and the working classes were looking for an outlet. The Sex Pistols, the new band managed by Malcolm McLaren, played their first ever gig at St. Martin's College on November 6, 1975. The Sex Pistols, fronted by punk icon Johnny Rotten, epitomised the anarchy, anger and fury of England's youth and quickly gained notoriety for their fast, furious and chaotic performances.

The influence of the Ramones clearly went further than the New York scene. Britain embraced the punk rock movement with some of the most-influential bands originating in the English scene, The Clash, The Damned and Buzzcocks as well as Cockney Rejects and Crass. However, punk wasn't limited to the UK and USA as the antipodean punks would follow on from the New York and London.

Australia was the next country to face the punk invasion when The Saints released their first single in 1976. Formed in Brisbane in 1974, The Saints demonstrated the same quick, raw sounds as their overseas contemporaries. Bob Geldof put the Australian band in the same bracket as the influential UK punks when he said "Rock music in the 70s was changed by three bands - the Sex Pistols, the Ramones and The Saints."

On December 1, 1976, the Sex Pistols appeared on Thames Today, a prime-time London TV show. The show's host, Bill Grundy, inadvisably goaded the band and provoked a foul-mouthed response from guitarist Steve Jones. The profanities would spark media controversy that would only serve to fuel the fire of punk in the British youth. Punk had truly arrived.

As punk moved from the underground clubs to the mainstream, the fashion, attitude and behaviour would be replicated. The Sex Pistols would self-destruct after just one studio album at the end of a tour of the US. At the end of a chaotic gig at the Winterland Ballroom on January 1978, Johnny Rotten addressed the crowd with "Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?". This appeared to be mocking the crowd, however, it was the same feeling that Rotten had while playing in a band where he felt let down and isolated. Rotten left The Pistols and the band was finished.

Although the Pistols would attempt to carry under on under Malcolm McLaren's guidance, the band was finished. As soon as punk had arrived, the genre had its first high-profile casualty. The Ramones would continue touring and playing for about 22 years, with a consistent line-up. The Clash would evolve and develop, becoming a major success in the USA disappointing many of their original fan-base with their newer, polished sound.

Punk arrived amidst a barrage of spit and obscenities, with such a fierce intensity that its shelf-life was inevitably short. As soon as the mainstream caught on to its popularity in the underground, pop-culture diluted the anarchic, angry, rage into a more profitable and contrived revolution. Punk bands wore the right clothes and said the right things to make some people lot of money.

Malcolm McLaren would epitomise this attitude with the amount of merchandise, recordings and eventually a movie to which he would attach the Sex Pistols name. It had begun as a snarl against the establishment but had quickly become a way to make a lot of money from a few ambitious boys from London. The time had passed, punk had erupted and dissolved in a heartbeat, but its influence would be felt for many years to come.

Are Prank Calls Legal in the UK & Ireland?

Author: PrankCalls4u.co.uk

That's the question many pranksters are asking, especially given the recent rise in celebrities such as Russell Brand appearing in the media for prank calling offenses.

Information on the legality of making prank calls is very confusing, mainly because they are a collection of conflicting views. So let's clear that up...

Prank Call Myths:

  • Prank calls are illegal
  • You cannot prank call someone at random
  • Recording a prank call is not allowed

Prank calls are perfectly legal as long as you understand the specific boundaries in place and why they are there. The regulations are very simple, but require you do not act in breach of them as you can be reported for various different violations.

What's Not Allowed:

  • Making threats and saying abusive things
  • Recording a prank call containing personal information and making it public without the consent of the person involved as this violates their data protection rights
  • Impersonating a person of legal authority, for example a police officer
  • Prank calls made to emergency services with false information
  • Repeat calls to the same person may be grounds for malicious calling as it may cause distress

In short, prank calls are legal as long as you stick to the basic rules above. Usually the best prank calls consist of winding up someone in order to cause humiliation.

These sort of pranks are a lot more satisfying when played on someone you know, as you will be able to hear their reactions and make fun of them for a long time to come!

As a telecom provider of prank call services, we are governed by strict laws regarding the content of our prank calls, so we can guarantee that you can have the most fun with the most peace of mind. Visit our Prank Call FAQ

Mortgages Predicted Soon for Brazil Property Investors

Author: Nancy billa

As you may already know if you are reading this that the property investment market in Brazil is a hot topic. Brazil investment properties are predicted to achieve very good capital growth and rental income potential. In fact some properties in the northeast have increased in value by around 100% in the past 3 years.

The positive growth is due to strong economic growth and increased exposure of the Brazil property market as well as increased investment and development of the touristic investment property industry, both public and private investment.

Brazil offers an excellent range of holiday homes for people looking for a place in the sun or to enjoy the excellent culture and carnival celebrations.

These are just a couple of the many reasons that Brazil property is increasing in popularity with foreign buyers and investors.

In fact an increasing number of international property developers are now building a selection of different superb touristic residential resorts targeted towards foreign investors in the northeast of the country and especially near Natal the capital city of Rio Grande do Norte.

A lot of foreign property buyers are already buying Brazil investment property and have been doing so for the past few years. However in our opinion the only thing holding the market back is the lack, or shall I say non-existent mortgages for foreigners.

With the massive potential of the Brazil investment property market we believe that mortgages will be available soon and in our opinion it is the clever property investors with available funds that are getting in on the market early which are set to make good amounts of capital gains as soon as the mortgages do become available.

The Brazil mortgage market is very young and under developed. A few mortgage products were introduced for Brazilian's in 2005 with around 50,000 mortgages granted but they had high interest rates.

It is quite common knowledge that quality housing and accommodation is a major issue for the majority of the Brazilian population. We believe that the Brazilian government and banks know that there is a need to make mortgages more readily available both for the Brazilian people to improve the quality of living and also for foreign national to invest.

Because of the growth in demand for quality property and the many quality Brazil properties and new real estate developments both residential and touristic resorts being built with the foreign buyer in mind we are predicting that the Banks in Brazil will increase the availability of mortgage products to both the Brazilian people and foreign nationals very soon.

At the time of writing this article (Sep 2008) the only option for foreign nationals looking to purchase a property in Brazil is to arrange alternative finance like equity release or a remortgage of there property in the UK for example. This is preventing a good number of potential property buyers from investing in Brazil property because of the lack of funds.

Therefore we predict that as soon as mortgages do become available for foreign investors buying in Brazil the property market will of course become more accessible and an increasing number of foreign people will start to purchase property which will in turn have a positive impact on the market and the value of real estate will increase. Therefore investors who have already purchased should see good capital growth when mortgage products for foreign nationals become readily available.

Interesting Facts about Old Master

Old Master is the term used for referring both European artist who worked in some specific time and art works that were produced in that particular period these could be anything, marine paintings, watercolor or oil paintings.

Old Master is the term used for referring both European artist who worked in some specific time and art works that were produced in that particular period these could be anything, marine paintings, watercolor or oil paintings. The accurate time span of such old master time period differs however is usually renowned to encompass art generated from 1400s to 1700s. Historical art people discuss the usefulness of the term "old master", and they might also use various other terms to explain art produced in this particular period of history.
Even though historical art people may not accept it, many well-known galleries have an "old master" wing. Further the art sale houses might make use of the term to spot in their catalogs. It is actually good to know the kind of art that is under discussion when the term is been used, as a course. Just because the time period for works of art classified as old masters is wide, a vast collection of arty trends and methods are included under this umbrella term, as range of artists comprising Goya, Da Vince, Raphael and many others. In addition, one must need to take care that this term is been used only for discussing European art and not any other art from different region of world.
This term referred to highly skilled and talented artists or "masters" that previously worked in this period, often in guidance of guilds or collectives. In fact, many of the old masters have worked for and with their clients, who were a significant part of the art world in this period. The old master time reproduces a very unstable time ever in European history, as the Renaissance marked few chief contribution and changes in European style of living. During those European times these old masters used to produce paintings, drawings, prints, common sketches, engravings, and other sculpture.
On the other hand, this term is often been used particularly in reference to painting art, as many of the old masters created a huge body of outstanding paintings and frescoes. Old master prints are further widely on exhibition in many of the art galleries. Most of the old master is typified by tremendous technical knowledge and some good sense of idiosyncratic and sometimes memorable beauty that has kept the artwork well-liked through the centuries. Many other kind of art appeared after "Old Masters" but then the fame that this term carried was not repeated by any other form of paintings art.

Women’s Self Defense

Author: Damian Ross

Can Anyone Defend Themselves? Of course the answer is "Yes", but each person has different circumstances. A 300-pound football player is going to have a different skill set than a 130-pound mother of two.

The biggest misconception in the martial arts is that a technique or a strategy will work the same for everybody, every time. Unfortunately, most martial arts preach this notion. They teach the same thing to everyone with little thought as to the capability of the student. Instructors have been trying to fit the square peg in the round hole for as long as I can remember. For example, the other day, I received a call a woman who has a 3-year-old child and was expecting another.
Naturally, she was concerned about her safety a pregnant woman with children is an easy mark. Well, this woman thought she would have no problem using empty hand techniques to fend off would-be assailants. She was convinced that she could “Jackie Chan” a slew of muggers, rapists and thieves with one child in her arms and another strapped to her back! After a few moments I told her that was all well and good, but before she unleashes her drunken monkey kung fu, she should probably take a few steps to prepare her self a lot better by decreasing her exposure.
And if it came down to a physical threat, there are a few things she can do to put the odds back in her favor and increase her chances of survival. Remember there are 3 things all criminals don’t want to happen: Get Arrested Get Identified Get Injured Keeping this in mind, the first thing I told her was the life she used to enjoy has now changed. A woman, preoccupied with the safety and care of two children, let alone one child, is a prime target for the skels who earn their living preying on the weak and the helpless. She should only go to very public, very safe places that are mother and child friendly.
The days of going to malls in the evening or quickly running into the Laundromat leaving the kids in the car are over. Another step to ensure your family’s safety is to schedule a day to run errands childfree. Or choose services that offer delivery. Now if you can’t afford certain things, well you need to do with out or get your imagination working to come up with a better solution. Now if you are going out, you have to have a few simple items handy.
They are ranked in importance form the perspective of escape and avoidance. This list considers range, commitment and lethal effects. Personal Alarm (Training Minimal) Pepper Spray (Training Minimal) Edged Weapons (Training Moderate to Heavy) Impact Weapons (Training Moderate to Heavy) Empty Hand (Training Heavy)
*Note Firearm has been deliberately left off the list. Both the pepper spray and personal alarm are used to cause a distraction without getting tangled up in your opponent.
A hesitation in your assailant’s assault will allow you the opportunity to escape and get to safety. Next come edged weapons (Push Daggers and Knives with Finger-Holes). They require a lot less power and are a lot more effective than impact weapons. The push daggers and finger-hole knives give you two advantages: a specific way to grab it and are extremely difficult to drop. And in the course of a fight for your life, the less you need to think about, the better. The downside of course is the close proximity you need to be to use the weapon.
Then come impact weapons. They multiply the force you can exert, but they still require more strength, power and body weight. And of course, empty hand techniques.Remember, technology will ALWAYS trump hand to hand methods. ALL HAND-TO-HAND is a tactical last resort. However training in empty hand techniques should be pursued vigorously. There is a great chance you will be taken by surprise and have to use hand to hand in order to get to your weapons.
Plus, it gives you something to fall back on in worst-case scenarios. It also gives you confidence and it awakens the part of you that doesn’t think tactically and defensively. So all self-defense comes down to more than just techniques. It encompasses the key elements of Awareness, Strategy, Planning and Training. Predators are banking on the fact you will play the odds and not do any of these. And all you have to do is be in the wrong place at the wrong time. All you need is one meeting to go late, one thing in your routine to be disrupted and that once busy parking lock is now a barren wasteland.
And there you are SOL. Training for reality is about training your mind to find whatever solution you need to survive. And that starts well before the fight is imminent. The person who doesn’t prepare for the absolute worst and thinks they are going to get by with just “empty hand” methods is very ignorant, very lucky or very dead.

First Battle of Panipat

Author: peterhutch

The first battle of Panipat took place in northern India, and marked the beginning of the Mughal Empire. This was one of the earliest battles involving gunpowder firearms and field artillery. In 1526, the forces of Zahir al-Din Muhammad Babur, the ruler of Kabul and of Timurid descent, defeated the much larger army of Ibrahim Lodhi, the ruler of the large North Indian Delhi Sultanate. The battle was fought on April 21 near the small village of Panipat, in the present day Indian state of Haryana, an area that has been the site of a number of decisive battles for the control of Northern India since the twelfth century.
The battle started at six in the morning. Sultan Ibrahim Lodhi advanced rapidly . At about 400 yards Babur's Cannons opened fire, noise and smoke from the artillery terrified the Afghans and the attack lost momentum. Seizing the movement Babur sent out his flanking columns to envelop the Sultan's army. Here the Afghans met for the first time the real weapon of Mongols 'Turko-Mongol Bow'. Its superiority lay in the fact that it was the weapon of the nobles, of the finest warriors. Such a bow in the hands of a Mongol warrior would shoot three times as rapidly as musket and could kill at 200 yards.
Attacked from 3 sides the Afghans jammed into each other. Elephants hearing noise of cannon at close range ran wildly out of control. Ibrahim Lodhi and about 6000 of his troops were involved in actual fighting. Most of his army stretching behind up to a mile never saw action. Battle ended in about 3 hours with the death of Ibrahim Lodhi who was at forefront.
After capturing Punjab, Babur proceeded towards Delhi to meet Ibrahim Lodhi. The Sultan got the message that Babur was proceeding towards Delhi with a huge army and strong artillery. But Ibrahim Lodhi's army was much bigger and he had war elephants. But Babur defeated the army with organization and skilled maneuvering. This historic battle of Panipat took place on April 21st (1526) at the place called Panipat which is located in modern day Haryana. This place has been the site many important battles in the history of India.
Second Battle of Panipat (1556 AD)
On 24th January 1556 AD Mughal ruler Humayun slipped while climbing down the steps of his library and fell to his death. His son Akbar was only thirteen years old when he ascended the throne. At the time of Akbar's accession to the throne, the Mughal rule was confined to Kabul, Kandhahar, and parts of Punjab and Delhi. Akbar was then campaigning in Punjab with his chief minister Bairam Khan. On February 14, 1556, in a garden at Kalanaur, Akbar was enthroned as emperor. Hemu (Hemchandra) was a military chief of the Afghan King Muhammad Adil Shah who had established himself at Chunar and was seeking to expel the Mughals from India. Taking advantage of Humayun's death, Hemu marched to Agra and Delhi in October and occupied it without difficulty, and became the ruler under the title 'Raja Vikramaditya'.
3 of History's Best Pranks

By: Ted Hill
Mischievousness and laughter is a part of all of us. Everyone loves a comedian! We have genres dedicated to it, and many businesses thrive on making people laugh as well. People from all walks of life, all over the world, prank and joke each other every day. We even have a day of the year dedicated to pulling pranks! But not all pranks are created equal. Here are ones which fooled enough people to become the few of the world’s best.
1. Swiss Spaghetti Harvest – Considered the best prank ever, it only goes to show how gullible people are, or how willing they are to agree with an authority. On April 1, 1957, the BBC news show Panorama reported that Swiss farmers were enjoying a bumper spaghetti crop, thanks to a mild winter and the absence of the dreaded spaghetti weevil. Richard Dimbleby, the show’s well-known and respected anchor, talked about the spaghetti crop as footage of families pulling pasta off trees ran in the background. The audience responded quickly and overwhelmingly, phoning the station to ask how to grow their own!
The prank was conceived by Charles de Jaeger, who had been planning it for years, and was only able to implement his plan on the day with the anchor’s help and a small fund from the show’s director. Very few people knew about it, and even the head of BBC was partly fooled! It was generally well-received and has since then inspired a number of spinoffs.
2. War of the Worlds – Not a deliberate prank, but still a great one! On October 30, 1938, a radio show was broadcast. It was an adaptation of H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds. The story was so convincing that despite saying that it was fictional four times during the show, people believed that we were being invaded by Martians! Since radio was the prime medium at the time, and planes were still relatively new, many people thought that the broadcast was real! Many consider this to be the greatest accidental hoax in history.
3. Rickroll – Now for something more modern. Known as an internet prank phenomena, this is when people are fooled into viewing a video of Rick Astley’s 1987 song "Never Gonna Give You Up". This is a classic bait-and-switch prank. Many major websites have used the phenomenon to prank their viewers. Youtube linked the Rickroll video to all of their featured videos for April Fools, and even Livejournal got in on the joke and introduced a new advisory board member, whose profile led to a Rickroll. It’s even spread to real life, with Rickrolling occurring in some TV shows, sports stadiums, and even in a train station! It’s also used in the campaign against Scientology. The man himself, Rick Astley, finds the phenomenon funny and bizarre, and says that he won’t capitalize on the sudden popularity.Personally, pranking for me is a funny way of bonding with people over a good laugh. Me and by friends used to do it all the time. Ever pranked someone good? Tell us!

Books: A lifetime friend
By: Ashish Phanse
Introduction: Books are a common feature in today’s fast moving world. It is quite difficult to find someone who has not seen, touched, and read at least one book in his or her lifetime. Today, authors write books on nearly every subject be it arts, science, commerce, history, literature, poetry, and other contemporary subjects.
Publishing and printing of books has become easier and more widespread since the invention of the printing press. Earlier, books were copied and written by hand, making books expensive and rare. Let us travel a little back in time to discover the journey that books have taken since first known to humankind.
History: The word ‘book’ comes from an Old English word called ‘bōc". According to the popular site thefreedictionary.com, a book in modern terms is "A set of written, printed, or blank pages fastened along one side and encased between protective covers."
The early Mesopotamians wrote books on clay tablets. The ancient Egyptians wrote on papyrus rolls in Egypt as early as 3000 B.C. In China, bamboo strips tied together with chords served as books. These dated back to around 1300 B.C. In ancient India, seers and sages wrote ancient religious texts on palm leaves – nature’s paper. These early writers would preserver these books for posterity and hand them down from one generation to another for preservation and dissemination of knowledge.
By the 19th century, printers could no longer meet the demand for books by hand printing. The printing press and the moveable type press, attributed to Johannes Gutenberg, changed the scenario, thus bringing the cost of books down to a considerable level. Johannes Gutenberg is also credited with printing the first real book - the Gutenberg Bible, using the movable type printing press.
Large presses followed this invention, thus making it possible for larger books to be printed. Further advances were made during the mid 1800s. For example, the invention of the papermaking machine, binding machinery, the cylinder press and the linotype machine made it possible for books to be printed in large numbers. In modern times, books are printed using a number of sophisticated processes, which require special attention out of scope of this article.
Classification of Books: Books are classified into various types according to their content. A popular segregation is fiction and non-fiction books. Fiction books contain largely fictitious material, such as novels, which are the most common form of fictional books. Typically, novels consist of a plot, setting, themes, and character.
Non-fictional books usually provide useful information as opposed to fiction books. A common type of non-fiction book usually found in libraries is the reference book. Other books can include handbooks, almanacs, encyclopaedias, atlases, instruction manuals, and others. School and college textbooks are come under the non-fictional category. Other non-functional books can take the form of directories, address books, phone books, appointment books, logbooks and diaries.
Another popular method of classifying books is by the type of covers they are provided with. Accordingly, they can be classified as hard cover and paper back books. While hard cover books have a stiff binding, paperback books have paper binding which are less robust and last lesser compared to their hardbound counterparts.

High class DVD solutions don't come costly!

By: Raisa Raima

While looking at the different segments of the market, one can easily spot a similarity between most of them. These segments from computer peripherals to DVD technology and from home entertainment to portable devices - all have advanced a lot in the last few years. The sole reason for such a speedy development is none other than 'innovation'.
If we take a close look at the media player market of today and compare it with the traditional market, we can easily ascertain the difference between the two. While the present day DVD players' market is on an all-time high, the same cannot be said about the traditional market. The traditional market is witnessing a downward trend due to immense market competition from the latest DVD players.
In addition to that, the benefits from these cheap DVD players completely outplay those of the traditional media players such as CD and VCR players. Since a DVD player offers exceptionally superior levels of image resolution, sound quality, quality, performance, affordability and consistency, the modern day customers are after them. After all, who wants to pay anything for an outdated product and who does not want to pay a justified price for an innovative and user-friendly product? The answer is quite clear and loud.
If you are searching for the best among the latest DVD players then you can have a look at the Intex R-25, Haier HD 110, Philips DVP 3126 and Philips DVP 5965. All these high-quality yet cheap DVD players are high on performance, consistency and come with path-breaking innovative features to their credit.
While looking for a new or even a second-hand DVD player, a prospective customer must study the prevailing market products and trends. This will help him to fetch a "reasonable and better" deal and he will be in a better frame to get better value for his hard-earned money. One must give due consideration to factors such as quality, warranty/guarantee, substitute products, price, customer service, brand name and reliability before embarking on a purchase deal.
The DVD market is blooming and is on the right track. With great hopes of continuing positive market trends and customers' preferences in the coming few years, there is no doubt that the cheap DVD players of today will give enough benefit to the customers in the times to come.

Casting Calls

Casting Calls

Author: Geoff Stevens

For those who are in the broadcasting or acting field, casting calls are an absolute necessity. It is the process of casting calls that will help you secure the job. The best way to ensure that you are notified of casting calls is to work with a qualified agent who will notify you when casting calls are taking place. Additionally, you’ll find that by joining accredited acting unions you will have access to casting calls as well. However, always perform your research and make sure that the agents and unions that you work with are legitimate and have a good reputation in the business.
Once you have access to casting calls you will need to ensure that you are professional. There is just no substitution for behaving in a professional manner and showing that you have the skills, as well as the talent, to be an asset on the project. Unfortunately, many people have great talent yet they do not know how to work with other people in a respectful manner. There is no amount of talent that will substitute for character. When you attend casting calls, it is imperative to treat everyone with respect and behave in an organized and professional manner.
Just as it is important to behave in a professional manner, it is also important to get as much knowledge as you can for your craft. Taking classes is one of the most proactive steps you can take to ensure that you are thoroughly prepared for all casting calls that you go on. You’ll also find that making sure you have experience will go a long way when you audition for casting calls. Sometimes, it’s best to start small and work your way up. Many broadcasting professional make the mistake of trying to start at the top. They only audition for roles or jobs that they basically have no experience for. By taking community roles, you can build your portfolio and has some experience for your resume. Do not despise small beings. If you really want to land the better gigs, you must prove to the company that you are not only a professional, but also that you have experience in your field as well.
Networking is an important key to your success. First, networking will help you connect to other professionals and is a great way to keep current regarding auditions and casting calls. Meeting those in the business is important and it’s also wise to make sure that you continually send out your headshots and resume regularly. Making yourself accessible and readily available is an important strategy for ensuring that when there is a need for someone with your profile, that you are contacted.
If you are working with an agency make sure to do your homework and check their credentials. They should be registered, have professional affiliations, and have good standard with local bureaus as well as a clean record with consumer report agencies. The best way to determine if you should work with an agency is by performing your own research and verifying the background of the company.

Play Bingo Online

: How to Play Bingo Online

Author: JEFFREY MCMAHON

“Play bingo online and you won’t want any other form of virtual entertainment” seems to be the unanimous feeling among bingo lovers. Everyone one can now play online bingo while conveniently sitting in their pajamas at home. As compared to its traditional cousin, online bingo’s profitability and entertainment quotient is much higher. Easy, reliable, and fun with huge wins, online bingo has become the king of virtual games. There are so many online bingo sites now that everyone can find the site that works for them.

Someone new to this amazing game might find him/herself a bit lost. That’s why it’s important to fully understand the workings of online bingo. It always pays to be prepared. First, register with a virtual bingo site. One plays bingo on net with random cards that are chosen and given by the site. Up to 50 cards can be played at a time. In an online bingo game, the pre-programmed software calls out numbers between one and 75. Players compare the numbers being called out with those printed on their cards, and create a definite pattern. Playing bingo online asks for focus and attention on the part of the players. As the numbers are being called out, they are simultaneously “displayed” on the computer screen.

As soon as the desired design is achieved, one needs to click a “Bingo!” button or write the word “bingo” on his/her chat window. Checked by moderators, the pattern becomes a winning pattern when it tallies with the numbers called. In case there is more than one winner, the prize is shared between the two. Talking about cards themselves, no two bingo cards are identical, a consequence of their random production. Made up of a grid of five rows and five columns, every bingo card has a central & empty space in it. On the rest of the card, every row and column has a random number printed on it. While there are many on line bingo sites that restrict this, many of them allow players to play several cards at a time.

There are many ways by which one can maximize the chances of winning. Playing with a moderate amount of cards is one of them. TV Presenter

TV Presenter

For many who desire a career in television the choice of tv presenter is a good one. A tv presenter is the host of a show and is the face that makes the connection between the television viewing audience and the program. Training for a career as a tv presenter is essential for developing the skills necessary to ensure that you can perform the job in the professional manner required. However, many who succeed in a career as a tv presenter often have prior experience in the area where they have been hired. Therefore it is imperative that those who seek careers in these fields have professional training and work on building up a resume. Becoming a tv presenter is not an easy ticket to a life of fame and fortune. It takes hard work, training, and a firm commitment to developing your craft.
There is no doubt that television presenters must have excellent speaking skills, an outgoing personality, and have a charismatic draw that will attract viewers to the program. It is also important to understand that the outlets or venues for television hosting are vast and varied. Therefore, you should first narrow down the area that you would like to work in. Some television presenters focus solely on news oriented programs. Others prefer the song and dance genre or game shows. It is important to ensure that you have adequate training, as well as experience in whatever area of television presenting that you wish to work in.
Though being a tv presenter involves television work, the career differs greatly from that of an actor or actress as you not playing a part. If you attempt to approach a job as a tv presenter as an actor playing a role or a character, you will not appear sincere or genuine. Television hosts must have an innate sincerity and believability in order to connect with the audience. Natural talent is the foundation for your career, but nothing will replace training with professionals and broadening your knowledge surrounding the field where you would like to work.
Some areas where tv presenters are needed include special feature programs such as science shows, travel, or history specials, game shows, music and variety shows, news and journalistic programs, sports broadcasts, talk shows, and children’s programming. Since there are many different avenues that you could present in, it is important to build up a resume that shows that you have relevant experience in that field. Though some venues are more lenient for hiring new talent then others, television presenters in the news arena must have journalistic training and experience.
It’s important to build up your resume and you might find that the best way to begin working in your specific area as a tv presenter is by looking for outlets in your local community. Also, you don’t need to focus solely on television gigs. When you first begin working, there is plenty of radio work that can give you a great feel for the industry and introduce you to the art of presenting.

The Electric Guitar

An Introduction To The Electric Guitar
Author: Victor Epand

Electric guitars are extremely popular today, but what exactly are they, and how does one define them and their sound quality? There is actually a huge amount of variation in the design and construction of an electric guitar - far more than the diverse range of classical or acoustic guitars.
The variations are in a part of the guitar which might otherwise be considered as definite and absolute - the body. For an electric guitar the body itself may be hollow, as in the style of a classical or acoustic guitar. However, it could also be only partially hollow, and in many cases is entirely solid.
This is largely because of the fact that, unlike classical or acoustic guitars which rely on the hollow body of the guitar to reverberate and resonate the sound made from the string, an electric guitar relies on an electric amplifier to achieve this same resonance and sound, and the construction of the body is largely, though not entirely, irrelevant in terms of sound quality and resonance. Without the electronic amplifier and equipment connected to the electric guitar, the instrument makes very little sound on its own, and unlike an acoustic or classic guitar, cannot be played without electric amplification.
Fitted to the electric guitar are electromagnets which pick up the vibrations of the strings as movement, and this vibration or resonance is transmitted to the amplifier as an electrical signal. It is therefore the physical resonance or vibration of the string which is used to transfer a signal, and not the sound of the string being struck at all which generates the sound, or at least, not in a direct way.
In many cases the electrical signal from the electromagnetic pickup is transmitted through a cable directly to the amplifier, but in some cases this is done through radio waves, allowing the guitar to be played without any trailing cables - particularly useful for those who tend to move about a lot while playing their music. The fact that the guitar is being played without any direct cable connection to an amplifier or sound equipment should not be confused with an acoustic or classic guitar in any way - the amplifier is still necessary as the guitar on its own would make virtually no sound at all, and certainly nothing even remotely approaching that of an acoustic guitar.
Because of the fact that the signal from the electric guitar is fed electronically to the amplifier, it is often the case that other means are used to convert or modify the signal, providing extra tones, or effects that create unique voices for the guitar. Although often we tend to think of the guitar as being solely a part of rock music or pop music, in fact it has a very healthy heritage borne through the jazz and blues scene, and has managed to hold on to its status throughout these three main genres of jazz, blues and rock.
The commercialization of the electric guitar occurred in two places at pretty much the same time, with Gibson working alongside Les Paul, at the same time as the extremely well known Leo Fender was developing the commercial model of the Fender. The physical structure of the body of an electric guitar is what is most striking as it is very different from the design of an acoustic guitar. But the fret board is also quite different too, because of the height of the strings from the body of the guitar itself. In an acoustic guitar, the strings are very close to the body, so that they run very close to the edge of the hole in the center of the body, but in an electric guitar this proximity is not required for the simple reason that the body of the guitar is not used to amplify or resonate the sound produced at all.
Because the strings are further away from the body, this allows the musician to play an electric guitar in different ways from that of an acoustic or classic guitar, with techniques such as tapping or legato pull-offs being used extensively, and slurs - otherwise known as hammer-ons as well as pitch harmonics, swells of the volume and in many cases an arm which creates a tremolo effect. It is not unusual to see foot pedals being incorporated into the performance too.
